In a couple of weeks, STARTALK 2014 Chinese Language Camp will begin! Just as a reminder, we meet June 30 – July 18. The camp begins at 8:30 AM and ends at 3:00 PM daily. We will be at Hammond Middle School. Please drop your child(ren) off at the entrance starting at 8:15.
In preparation for the camp, there are several items that we need you to complete prior to the start of the program:

- STARTALK Online Pre-Program Survey
Field Trip Lunch Choice
July 16, we will take the students to the Baltimore Zoo. Students will report to Hammond MS at the usual time. We will then board buses to take us in to Baltimore and we will return to the school by 3:00 PM. Lunch will be provided at the Zoo. Please complete the Google Form to indicate your child’s choice for lunch prior to June 30, 2014. Click here to fill out form!
STARTALK Consent Form
The National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) supports STARTALK program across the United States and collects information about participants to improve program offerings. To collect this information, NFLC surveys all participants about language learning experiences and attitudes about language learning.
To participate in the surveys, please complete the Consent Form and return it prior to June 30, 2014. Instructions on how to complete the Student Consent Form are also included (be sure to initial both pages) (see forms below).
STARTALK Online Pre- or Post-Program Survey
As mentioned, the NFLC would like our program participants to complete online pre- or post-program surveys.
For students entering Grades 3-5, we ask that the parent or guardian complete the STARTALK Pre-Program Survey. An email link to the survey will be sent to those who have returned the signed consent form. Please complete the online survey as soon as possible. Instructions for participating in the Grades 3-5 survey are included (see below) No username or password is needed to access the survey online.
Students entering Grades 6-8 will complete a post-program survey the last day of the camp during class time.
All materials will be posted on our STARTALK website at http://hcstartalk.weebly.com/ Visit the website periodically for updates and information about the curriculum, staff, and daily activities.
We look forward to a wonderful camp experience!
